In myths and legends across Europe -- and beyond -- one strange scenario plays out time and time again: a spectral horde thundering across the night sky, pursuing otherworldly prey, or clamouring for battle. Monstrous creatures, werewolves, trolls, old gods and fairy folk. Their arrival foretelling war or natural disaster... the terrifying procession known as the Wild Hunt.
In this special Christmas episode, we explore appearances of the Wild Hunt in legend and history, seek out its possible origins, and examine its unseen influence on modern Christmas celebrations.
